Could be people are starting to see through populist politicians.
Trump is gone, Netanyahu is gone and a few others are looking like their time is up.

TBF a trade deal is supposed to leave both parties better off.

The question is will the increased import of meats from Australia drown out our local producers or just switch imports to another source.

Or the other question might be, will it matter in 15 years when we're all eating vat meat anyway.

Don't under estimate populism Vinty, it will bring down the EU and before that the Republic will exit, it's written in the tealeaves.

Meat consumption will go down dramatically, no doubt about that. As for our local farmers, we currently import about 250,000 tons of beef every year from the EU, the vast majority of that is from the Rep of Ireland.
It will hit EU suppliers for many years before it has any effect on our farmers.

Ireland.
Brexit and the quotas the EU have allowed them mean they stand to lose a third of their fishing catch.
The UK trade deal with Australia will kill their beef farming overnight.
Half of their GDP is from ultra low corporation tax for US companies which the EU and Joe Biden is about to pill the plug on.

Will Ireland stay in the EU?, not to put too fine a point on it, they'd be ******* mental if they did.
