Had this problem and found the diagnosis, the brushes, on line.
Brush replacement is an easy DIY job. A couple of tips.
The motor needs to be removed as refitting the brushes is extremely fiddly. Having removed the back panel and disengaged the belt, tip the machine forward at 45 degrees to inprove access. Remove the two retaining bolts. and slide the motor off its mounts. Now it can be turned to give better access to the connector which can be levered off. Disconnect the earthing wire and the motor can be removed.
When taking the old brushes out carefully note the orientation of the wear angle on the contact face so that you insert the new brushes to match that wear angle.
Refitting is the reverse procedure. Good luck!
