Sorry - just to clarify.

When I asked about an insert (post #6) I meant an insert inside the internal end of the MDPE - definitely fitted?

if its spinning its not tight enough or the olive is to big, you do sometimes get them like this (poor manufacturing normally). take it back and swap it, cut the pipe down and start again making sure you use the copper insert. leave a good 4 ot 6 inches above ground or cupboard level for future repair work/ tap changes, to many are cut on the deck making it impossible to replace the tap in the future.
