brazing/soldering old brass in PO9 or E11 or nearby

About as far as it could be from you, I'm about a mile from the kent border.

I would consider looking for a local foundry that may be able to cast a brand new one by using the broken pieces as a pattern.

John - do it yourself. A stick of silver solder, a tub of Easyflow flux, and a cheepo blowlamp. Dead easy!!! If you fancy doing it ... I'd be happy to advise.

DON'T BRAZE IT. Brazing as the name suggests uses brass as the filler so the article has to be heated up, hot enough to melt brass. As the letter box flat would have been made from some unknown alloy there is just too much risk of it melting. Using silver solder will work, (melts at a much lower temperature) but leave the joint line very slightly silvery. The best/easiest repair would be to epoxy resin on a backing strap.
