Doss anybody know the general rule for measuring brickwork? If someone is pricing for laying a cavity wall, say conc block - insulation - facing brick, how's is the m2 area calculated (are wall lengths taken down the centre of the cavity? Or outside face?)

For single skin its 60 brick per m2
For block its 10 block per m2.
When getting prices always expect to pay more for an established company with overheads and employees rather than a one man band or a small set up.
A larger set up will be paying advertising, staff, admin plus their cut on top, whereas a oneman band or a smaller setup will not have the additional costs of staff and will perform the work themselves
If you are paying a composite rate for a wall, then it does not matter whether it's measured from internal or external, or the centre line, but you need to avoid double counting the areas of corners.
And you can count bricks/blocks or measure areas, but not both. And 60 bricks or 10 blocks won't be 1m2 of wall, so decide how it will be quantified and stick to that method.
