The Brexit gift that keeps giving.

A third of UK seasonal jobs in ski resorts and summer activity holidays have disappeared because of fears over Brexit, research shows.

Many are looking at closing down, he says, threatening a £16bn contribution to Britain’s economy, £1bn of which goes directly to the Exchequer in tax receipts.

Dan Fox, the managing director of Ski Weekends, said the EU had “brought us the most incredible benefits of freedom of movement of our staff, transport and resources”, and holidaymakers had benefited because of the explosion in small companies able to offer a diverse range of holidays.

Sadly the debate about brexit has mainly centred on the economics of the matter...

What quitters just don't get is that the opportunities for young people in the UK to get a temporary job in Europe will dry up, and they will miss out on being able to experience life/varied lifestyles in a different country/countries...

And that includes their own children and the generations to come!

Without that experience available, the UK sadly will become a more isolated, xenophobic and extremist country!

That is the biggest Brexit loss!

Isn't that what they want? To go back to the heady days of the 50's where the country could talk about ruddy foreigners?

Personally I agree, it's a great shame. This country is better for being more worldly, just a shame so many are dragging their feet and continuing to naval gaze.

High Tech skills are in short supply and it was so easy to recruit people from the EU. Now we will have to jump through hoops but speaking to a few EU contractors many of them said they feel the mood has changed so even if we gave them an uplift they may not return.

So looks like less work being completed in the UK and more in the EU - all those tax receipts gone.

Madness.

It appears so...

Quitters also don't appear to understand that the days of empire are long gone...

And given our growing isolationalism, other countries increasingly now think of us as those 'ruddy foreigners'!
