When you took your BB contract out you would have been given a maximum and guaranteed minimum dl speed and is dictated mainly by the local infrastructure.
Ours is 13 mbs with a guarantee 2mbs and find that fast enough to stream catchup Tv and youtube vids but the .98mbs upload speed takes an age to upload vids.
While we get 13mbs, some on the same rural exchange get 2mbs hence why my minimum guarantee is 2mbs .
In my opinion and a self confessed satnav geek having been using it since TT3 in a pocket PC think dedicated units are dead in the water with phone apps being so good and kept more up to date.

Looks like you have ADSL, this connection is what was the norm back in 2007, its rather slow and dated now, especially considering how many many devices today need a wifi connection. You best bet is to disconnect all other devices and try the update after that then look into getting a fast fibre connection if possible.

Wow that's snail pace, just got 150mb fibre connection, after discounts £13 a month 24m contract.
