Can cast pipes be rewelded ?

our has split near to the bottom so i am faced with getting a new length in.

if i cannot fix it, how much is a length of cast and who are the best suppliers ?

It is possible to weld cast but there arn't that many welders that will do it mind. It would require heating up in order for the weld to take and in all honesty it'd probably be better to replace it.
price would depend on size here for example is an e-bay offering- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-CAST-IRON..._Antiques_Architecural_RL&hash=item3a641f7817
and a similiar price here- http://www.rainclear.co.uk/index.asp?cat1=2&cat2=10&ps=4|11&ct=6&t=Downpipe & Fittings

have a google and you may find it cheaper

would it have anything to do with the Gas Fitter trying to get that pipe behind it  that`s a nice clean break - probably tried to jemmy it off the wall a tad - but it`s fixed with 2 - 3 inch pipe nails , by a proper plumber

i am off to get a piece of cast today from drain centre - £52 for primed. cheapest i have found and local.
