Broken Leg

So SS, did you get home for Chrimbo?

Hopefully your silence for the past few days means you did and you may possibly be the worse for wear due to alcoholic indulgence.

What ever happened, hope you had a wonderful time.

Yes, I heard that the ward sister told him to hop it. :D

You are pulling my leg, surely.

Hi guys and Happy New Year to you all!

I was indeed in Stepping Hill and fortunately did not meet Bev Allitt or Fred Shipman. But when I was self-employed, I worked for two GP's who worked with him and when he came back to the surgery to get yet another Death Cert counter-signed, they used to joke with him, "What are you doing Fred, bumping them off or what.....?"

Little did they know...

Then one of them got suspicious and contacted the BMA and the GMC who started investigations. Sadly she did not live to see the outcome of the case as she contracted terminal cancer.

Anyhow back on topic.

I was in SHH for 8 weeks, I didn't get out for Christmas and was doing my nut by the time I got let out, not least because the non-emergency ambulance service is run by a completely incompetent bus company.

In their wisdom, the Trust decided to award the service to the company with the lowest tender.

The result is they are late all the time cannot handle the workload and the end result to the NHS is the money saved with the left hand is doled out with the right to pay to keep patients in hospital for extra days because a tinpot bus company cannot do their job properly.

Are they taken to task? Do they pay a penalty? Don't make me laugh!!

After I got home I had a couple of days pain then things got markedly better. Unfortunately since then, I have got a pin site infection ad despite painkillers and antibiotics, the nagging pain refuses to subside. Doesn't bode well.

I really don't want to go back in but if needs must, in I'll have to go...

That's the biggest problem with the NHS, in my opinion. Incompetent and over-paid management.

Yes, some administrators are necessary, but I think hospitals would be better run by a small board of medical officers, a matron and a single Hospital Secretary, as they used to be in the good old days. The present situation consists, as far as I know, of far too many managers whose only interest is running the hospital as a business.

Anyway, I hope things improve for you soon, SS.

Thanks, JB.

I hope to be jogging round to yours soon for a refreshing glass of Corporation Pop! ;)

Sorry Conny, I missed your post about alcohol.

Unfortunately, I would love a little sip of beer or a nip of single malt but I cant have a single drop due to the sheer quantity and variety of medications I take these days.

Same here , hope things get better.

Not wanting to hijack the thread but I Also agree on JBR's post on NHS and the idea that Trusts are competing with each other rather than working together to get best deals etc

Thanks for the update secure, I hope you are making good progress.

I know someone who worked as a non emergency ambulance driver for a while. He was hard working, caring and conscientious but as you say, the management of the service was totally abysmal and farcical.

SS, Hope things get better for you in 2015.

Ah, yes.....Arriva, crap bus and ambulance service.

Thanks for the update SS.

Sorry to hear you are still suffering, hopefully the antibiotics will kick in and help relieve the pain. Don't worry about the alcohol. I think I drank enough for both of us,

All the best for 2015.

very sorry to hear it has not cleared up yet. Best wishes for some real improvement.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes.

It's early days yet, but I'll keep you posted.
