If a pin were stuck that could cause the key to not be able to turn. When you put the key in the lock are the cuts or bits of the key facing up? If they are facing down that would tell you that water could get into the pins and thus springs and cause corrosion and hangups.
I have been told to lubricate lock keyway with dry graphite ..... ask for it and about it's function at a good hardware store.
Good luck on your problem.
"Dry Graphite" is actually what penicls are made from, so you do not need to go and buy it, gently "shave" the grey stuff in a pencil (not the wood the other bit) with a sharp utility knife, hey presto powdered dry graphite.
