I want to make an extension lead.

It needs to have 10A capacity.

It should be 6 way, with type G sockets with surge protection, 5m in length and have a Type I (NZ) plug on the end.

I think the best way would be to use a UK spec 6 way strip with 5m lead and build a Type I plug to Type G socket adaptor.

I can find a lead with a moulded Type I plug, but it's rated too low.

Can anyone help please?

Thank you.

One certainly "learns something every day" - I, for one, have never heard them called "Type G sockets before, so I had to ask Mr Google what they were!

Kind Regards, John

Thank you fellas.

I think the bog standard socket outlet in NZ is 10A rated.

That last NZ plug is 15A. I presume the pins are bigger, so that won't fit a 10A socket?

I have decided to do it this way, as I already have a long IEC C13/C14 lead.

I will get the 10A NZ plug to C13 lead. Plug my long IEC lead into it.

Then attach an old C14 lead I have kicking about in the garage to a 6 way fuse and surge protected strip.
I can put a 10A fuse in the strip and then use the 6 way strip either as a short lead or a long one.

Just watch out that a lot of IEC leads are only made with 0.75mm² flex.

Personally for this reason, I would be reluctant to use IEC connectors in an application over 6A.

They do seem to be 0.75.

I shall probably put a 5A fuse in the trailing socket.

Talking of that, I ordered what was described as a 6 way surge protected trailing socket from Amazon. Discovered it wasn't surge protected.

But it has a fuse carrier, which I need.

The version with surge protection does not have a fuse carrier.

I've had a good look all.over, and I can't find a surge protected 6 way trailing socket with fuse protection.

I don't suppose anyone knows of one?

I'm assuming you are about to head to NZ.
One of these? https://www.amazon.co.uk/kwmobile-A...ype+i+to+type+g+adapter&qid=1706233238&sr=8-3

Or just take the 6 way with you without 13A plug and once there purchase a plug and fit to it.
