Replacing my 2.3 KW single oven with a 4.9KW double.

The single was connected with heat resistant flex and plug to a double socket under the unit (the gas hob is plugged into the other socket).

The socket is wired up to a control unit switch above the unit which in turn is wired up on a seperate circuit with a 32a MCB

Can I just wire up the new oven in the same way?

Thanks

No.

You will have to change the double socket.

You will need a dual back box fitted (slightly wider than a double), i.e. a back box which can accommodate two single accessories, a cooker connection unit for the oven and a single socket for the hob.

This assumes the circuit is a standard cooker one, which it appears to be.
I would advise the circuit to be tested properly by an electrician.
