1731238720946.png Three GU10 bulbs in wife's craft room show as offline with Smart Life, but google home shows 1731238942412.png and using voice commands with the Nest Mini speakers still works turning lights on/off. Not too bothered that I can't control with smart life, but can't see how I can rest the bulbs in question?

Turn it all off and back on so it all reconnects.
That includes WiFi.

See if that sorts it.

Easiest is turn power switch in fusebox

Worth a try, although the 4 lamps in the room are on the original light switch, and one method to turn them on, is to turn them off and on again. The pendent lamp still works as it should, it is just the GU10 lamps which have the problem.

Which smart bulbs can be quirky like that, yeah. A full reset (turning them on fast a few times), sometimes, works. Most of the time if they’re still acting up I just re add them in the app and they’re fine.

I think smart life reports offline if they are not connected to internet but still have local connection via your Wi-Fi .Are you able to switch while away from home ?

I never have any problems like that. I use things called "switches" which are fixed to the walls and are linked to light bulbs by things called "wires", and it all works 100% perfectly 100% of the time.

Seems odd to call something "smart" when it is worse.

Why is it worse? A smart light comes on automatically when entering a room and goes off automatically when the room is empty.
Why would anybody ever want to do that?
When away from home smart lighting can be used to simulate the lighting activity which would happen when someone was at home. This might help to deter break ins.

So does a light worked by a light switch. If I enter a room and I detect that it isn't illuminated enough, I turn the lights on by pressing the thing called a "switch", which is traditionally placed within arms reach of the doorway.

It is true that when I leave I could omit to turn them off, but as soon as you introduce the idea of automation which is shown to be flaky you are introducing technology which is as dumb as people who don't get the idea of turning lights off.

And that's smart technology?

Any evidence for that?

We pay our money (or not) and take our choices. Smart lighting works well for me in a variety of situations. You are free to stick with lights controlled by switches if you wish, I also do that in some situations. I also use smart lighting to switch bedroom lights on at a low level in the morning when I wake up but at a brighter level during the day when carrying out tasks in the room; to switch on stairway lights when someone is near the stairs. To switch on outside lighting when doors are opened and for a variety of other things which can also be achieved with switches/dimmers. It's all down to personal choice.

I don't need any evidence that "smart lighting can be used to simulate the lighting activity which would happen when someone was at home. This might help to deter break ins." The first part is an absolute fact. The second part (that it might help to deter break ins) is advice given by many police forces; an example being "The intention is to create the impression that someone is in – a significant deterrent. Illuminate the areas of your home which are most likely to achieve this." from https://www.westyorkshire.police.uk/lighten#:~:text=Leave a light on:,most likely to achieve this.. I only care that it makes me feel better when I am away. Again you are free to do whatever makes you happy.

Smart lighting works for us, in the main, by combining many lights in a room, so one command turns off all, but also when dusk arrives either a voice command or the automatic light, falling asleep watching TV, then wake when TV timed out, and room in darkness, being able to turn on lights before tripping over the cat is an advantage.

The same turning on outside lights before we leave the car.

But every so often as with any system they go wrong. Sometimes they cure themselves, sometimes we need to reprogram, change a bulb, relay or light switch, but in the main they save a lot of complex wiring, but in this case, google home shows the lights, and voice commands work. 1737635303917.png but the base program Smart Life only used to program them in shows offline, 1737635452823.pngsince voice commands still work done nothing to correct it, main problem is I am not an administrator for smart life, so have to get wife to do any work using it.
