Its also alleged that after feeding all the characteristic data of a bumble bee into a computer it concluded that the bumble bee could not possibly fly. But it didn't know that!
I thought that all bees were male workers, breeding from the Queen??
I was cutting some trees back, and got dive bombed by bees, as I presumably was removing a source of their food. They certainly warned me off, with no intention to sting.
Are you sure, I thought is was wasps that can continuously sting because their stinger is not barbed. A bumble bee has a barbed sting that is left in your skin and afterwards the bee dies.
They should die off in the autumn then re emerge in late spring.
When I tap my wall I can hear them all buzzing like mad in the thatch on the other side.
If you think they might be causing problems have a word with a local bee keeper, they should set your mind at rest and be able to discuss your options better.
Or start growing lots of fruit and veg in your garden.
