Hi, wonder if any of you can help me out again.

A couple of times when out with RGI I have encountered burner pressure test points where the grub screw has been impossible to loosen to allow the pressure to be taken or adjusted. No screw driver did the trick and my RGI did not seem to want to try too much else!!!!

I realise the importance of measuring these pressures and wonder if any of you experienced gents had any tips for removing such stubborn screws?

Thanks for your time Si

Sometimes if you tighten it up a little bit more first it can release it ;) In really stubborn cases you may just have to rely on gas rating the appliance to check it is perfoming ok.

mini rachet set with a fine slotted bit never been beaten yet. halfords do them

I would just gas rate instead unless such a ham fisted job had been carried out on the screw that it needed a new gas valve.

I always replace the gas valve when I find this (although the ratchet idea is worth a go, a trip to halfords methinks)

if you cant chech the burner pressure then the boiler is not as the Maker would have it IMHO

Excellent advice as ever thanks for all your input.

Will have to get that mini ratchet set, sounds a good buy. Another set of tools to add to the list for this newbee!!

Thanks Si

Agreed cm but try telling a customer they have to pay a couple of hundred pounds for something they don't want and which will be of no benefit to them.

I have yet to meet one who said no

mind you most of em dont have to pay as they have insurance

You could try a good sharp screwdriver with a long shaft (8" - 10") - hasn't failed me yet.
