Anyone done it?

Electronics are cheaper there by quite some margin, but what about shipping?

And would you get stung for import/export duties?

And would Amazon.com even allow the sale or would they direct you to the .co.uk site?

Only ever used the UK site, but there are still bargains to be had. Original Epson ink cartridges, for example. I remember buying some for a few pounds each, compared to over £25.

i have bought several things from amazon
import duties are no different to ebay or any other source
when you get chosen by customs you pay the import duty otherwise you just enjoy :D
obviously the more expensive the more chance you will have to pay

Thanks, guys. ;)

Must look up what the tax might be. And the shipping. See if it's viable.

further add we are talking around the £30 mark below that i have never had to pay import duty above that its not just the import duty its the couriers "fees" off perhaps £25 to "process" the import duty
this basically means they pay it and claim it back
so if you import duty is say £20 you have to pay there fee plus the duty
it used to be worth importing from america but now the difference is not worth the hassle

No...just put the figures into a calculator to see what I might get charged on customs duty.

They calculated 20% duty on the goods + shipping + insurance....

I'm guessing sales tax will have been added to the amount paid on Amazon.com and US taxes will have been paid on the (US arranged) shipping and insurance.

Feeky chuckers!

you don't pay local taxes on exports
but in general the possible savings are now so small compared to the loss off gtee and having to supply equipment to convert the voltage or hertz and the added loss off efficiency and power

The price of the goods on Amazon.com is geared for sale to people in the US. Would the price of the goods be altered if the shipping address was outside the states?

In any case, the deal is not worth it, with taxes added at this end. Still can't believe the authorities are adding 20% to the shipping and insurance charges. That's a rip-off.

Just a sneaky way to bump up the revenue even further to discourage you from importing.
