bwm 1995 325td help !

With the engine stutter, I bet the messager gets a fuel injector fault light coming on.

Do not worry about dragging crap from the bottom of the tank in - the fuel pickup is near the bottom anyway, where do you think the fuel comes from, when the tank is full? certainly not from the top. Run the millers on a near empty tank. If it fails you might need to look at other solutions.

If the car has never had a lock change (or has had a lock change officially) then ordering a new lock barrel to chassis no. from a main dealer will result in the existing key fitting the new lock. It's a common problem, and as a result the parts aren't badly priced.

The diesel/injector cleaner trick may be worth a go, but I doubt if it will work in this case. The diesel distributor pump is a fairly complex lump on these cars, and contains a fair amount of the control electronics. As already stated, this is not an unusual fault on this age of vehicle. The later models were modified, but it's not a case of just getting one from a breakers, because they also contain some of the immobiliser components, which need to be matched to other items.

Also, it's unlikely that an engine management light would come on, as the emission regulations when these cars were built are nowhere near as strict as they are now.
