CABLES BURIED IN GROUND ?????

I would mention that if you employ contractors for the dig, don't let them back fill unless you've checked the depth of dig, the under duct sand and the duct joins cause they will nick depth and save time if you let them !

Very true. Leaving spoil along both sides of the trench makes it look deeper than it is when measured.

Have a couple of prepared depth sticks clearly visible when the contractors arrive to show you mean business. 150 mm from one end of the stick is painted red ( or any distinctive colour ) All that colour must be covered by sand when you probe along the trench before the duct is laid. A band at 600mm +150mm +diameter of duct from the end and that band must be at or below ground level when probing the depth of the trench. Another band can be used to ensure there is the right depth of sand above the duct before the earth is back filled.

Just hire Verne Troyer to check it for you.

If he can see over the rim of the trench it isn't deep enough.....

What's that idiot OP banging on about?

I've still got him on ignore after the torrent of abuse during his last visit to this forum.

I'm sure when my Dad was jointing, the cables were in black duct for the lampposts.

Am I covering dead ground now?

Part of the 1100m job I did was by a cemetery, the earth and mud is a funny colour when you 6" away from bones

Not seen an answer to the public - private question.

If it is public it can only (legally) be installed by a utility and they would tell you how they wanted it installing.

I presume it is private!

If you care, then temporarily or permanently take him off ignore.

If you don't care then stop worrying about what he might have written.
