calculate the cost of total materials

Hello,
I have just a random question
If I have a house with 3 rooms and want to build it all from wood
the dimensions of all rooms are 2m x 4m = 8m^2
and the price of wood is 6£ per meter
do I just need to multiply 6£ x 8m^2?
This is not a question related to anything in the real world

That's not really a random question is it?
to be honest it is not, it is related to a programming problem, it asks me the following. If we build 5 houses out of wood all uniform with 3 rooms each, and they are 2m x 4m. Calculate the the total area the the price of the cost given that the price for wood is 6£ per meter. For the life of me, I can not understand how to calculate the price, do I just have to multiply 8m^2 to 6?

Is the cost of the wood given as £6 per 1m linear length of wood or £6 per square meter of a room built?

I believe it is £6 per 1m linear lenght of wood

this is the sentence in the problem
"Wood prices have been set at £6.00 per meter"
"5 new houses, all from wood and all uniform. Each house has 3 rooms, all with exactly the same dimensions, i.e. 2m x 4m"
 
The question is terrible, assuming it is £6 per 1m linear length of wood then you'd need to know how many studs make up the walls, and how high the room is. If you don't know that then you can't work it out.

Or is whoever set the question expecting you to input your own No of studs per wall and height? Or are they expecting your program to be able to accommodate each of those parameters?

I give whoever set the question 1/10.
 
It’s not a question with a specific answer ( like most maths questions) since it’s too vague , the rooms in the real world would have door openings and windows not to mention floors and ceilings.
 
Or it is £6 per square metre. In which case its (((2x4) x 3) x 5) x £6 = £720

You got the last part right, I really can not figure it out how they created something like this.

They do not mention anything about studs or windows or doors.

So I guess they just want us to calculate the price of material for a 2m x 4m room

I do know that I would need the height of the room normally as well, but yeah.. you can see the picture with the question
