Hi Does anyone know how if there is an easy way or a tool that would make the small pin type thing that holds the chain in place on nunchucks. you can see what i'm talking about in the link below:

Is there anything else i could use to hold the chain in place instead of tension pins? Anything i could get from a local store like Homebase or B&Q etc? Would rivets work?

A peined over rivet is vertually what you have in the lefthand picture, why do you want to make the tension/roll pin when you can actually buy them from B&Q (warehouse)?

The tension or roll pins are heat treated sprung steel, do you have facilities to harden & temper the metal?

These people sell them on 10s see page 11 of catalogue

well i don't want to actually 'make' the fixings. Its that at first i was after the roll pins but i couldn't find anywhere that sells the right size. Now i'm after rivets instead as they would be easier but i'm also finding it hard to find the right size.

The size of the hole i think is: 6mm diameter and 15mm length. does this mean i'd need a rivet around 5.5mm to fit this? If anyone could help me because i'm really new to all this. Also, does anyone know where i could get a rivet gun for this size rivet? Thanks. :(

Pop rivits are only made from a soft alloy so will not be very strong and you will have a job finding anything larger than 5mm as standard sizes are 3.2,4.0 & 5.0mm

You will need a rivit the same size as the hole. Iron (annealed steel)snap head rivits 18mm long will do, you just need to pein the head over with a ball pein hammer no need for a rivet snap but as I said above this will give you what you have in the left picture, once it is together you cannot easily get it apart again. You can get them from the link in my earlier post.

Could you not use a small nut (preferably nyloc) and bolt, M5 for a 5mm hole, M6 for a 6mm hole

i can't use a nut because it will look more messy and they are to be sold so can't look rubish. I'd basically like to have them look the same as the one on the left which they already come with when you buy them but i need to cut the chain then replace the rivet so the chain won't come out again. I don't really know the difference between a pop rivet and solid rivet etc.

I've just found out that the pic on the left of my first post uses semi tubular rivets. where can i get these?

How about tapping the hole and putting a grub screw in?
