What I'm after is to move my meter down by about 3 to 4 inches - before you all cry you can't do that the supply company has to do it would I be allowed to do this?
This is my current setup, supply fuse and meter mounted on chipboard, with the fuse being about 4 inches lower than the meter. The consumer unit is inline with the fuse but is not mounted on the chipboard.

What I plan to do is cut down the centre of the board inbetween the fuse and the meter. Then move the meter half down four or so inches so it is inline with the fuse and consumer unit. I would then cut the excess wood off the top of the fuse half and off the bottom of the meter side. (Picture shows no wires but they are still attached).

The finished result would be fuse, meter and consumer unit all at the same level without having to cut any seals or tags as there is enough slack in the tails going to/from the meter without stretching them in anyway - allowing me to put a kitchen worksurface above it.
