I've just bought a new grundfoss 15-50 pump, as recommended by people on here. I may have a problem though. Reading through the instructions is says that pumping downwards is not recomended although the old pump did. It also says that the cold feed from the expansion tank should be on the return side of the boiler and the vent should be on the flow side but both these are on the flow side of my system. here is a drawing of what my heating pipes are like now

If i put the pump pumping downwards its label will also be upside down im wondering if the system was fitted correctly as the boiler instructions say that the cold feed should be inverted - it isnt - and it should be on the flow side of the boiler but the pump says opposite
can anybody tell me what is correct ? thanks

Thanks very much for the replys i was beginning to think that i had bought the wrong pump. so can i leave all the pipework alone then or should i invert the cold feed pipe like the boiler instructions say. its a ideal optia boiler?

thanks i will do that tomorrow then there are two maintenance valves at the top and bottom of the pump so i can turn them off so i dont get any leaks.

check they turn off first. you may need to change them as well as they can seize.

oh right ! if they are seized do i have to buy specific ones that will fit the pump or are they all the same?

i got the new pump fitted and bled it once i had turned the valves back on and it works great thanks very much to everybody who helped.
