'Can it get much dafter?' yes it can..

I cant beleive such a respected association as the Terrence Higgins Trust would lend themselves to tripe like this.
What they are doing is helping the council get the message across that clearing the undergrowth is not being done because of homophobia or to discriminate.

What they are doing is using the fact that they are a respected organisation to (diplomatically) tell the complainers not to be so ridiculous.

But I guess that's not of interest to rabble-rousing reactionary idiots, is it...

I could understand why a lesbian would complain about finding a man in the bush.

You'd think they'd be happy about a bit of gardening in the park.

Depends on the size of yer hoe and what you want to be raking!!!

TUTUTUTUTUTUTTUTUTUTUT!

When we go to other countries, we are expected to respect their customs and beliefs, so why is it when ANYONE comes here, they want US to change our way of doing things to accomodate THEM.

I really dont think its down to the immigrants, British born muslims etc or foreigners that live here..its more down to the do-gooders who feel they are on some sort of mission to change the world by trying to ram their bigotted views down everyones throats..so we all live in their false utopian world.

But I guess that's not of interest to rabble-rousing reactionary idiots, is it...

You really cant flex your fingers without insulting someone can you..fortunatly the irony in that statement is world beating..

The council shouldnt even be in a possition where it has to defend itself...

A meeting of the Bristol Downs Committee on Monday was told: "Concerns were expressed by the city council's lesbian, gay and bisexual group that this action was potentially discriminating against gay and bisexual men whose activities on this part of the Downs were objected to by other members of the local community and Downs users."

The Terrence higgins Trust should be telling these people to knock it off with the social politics...they are highlighting these issues even more with stupid remarks like that.

The Trust was essentially set up for gays who had concerns about aids...by getting involved in these cranky issues they are setting themselves up to be a laughing stock and an embarresment to the gay community.

What will the advisory group suggest next?...maybe a 'do not disturb sign' when men are at it in public toilets?...after all we cant go infringing anyones human rights can we?

Oh? Who did I insult, and how?

fortunatly the irony in that statement is world beating..
You have far too high an opinion of your own abilities - there was nothing ironic about "You really cant flex your fingers without insulting someone can you", let alone world-beating irony.

The council shouldnt even be in a possition where it has to defend itself...
They are a publicly accountable body who were criticised - of course they should respond to the criticisms and act to defend themselves, explain their position and defuse the conflict. Thankfully not every organisation behaves like the DIYnot Moderators.

And I suppose you're going to claim that they aren't telling them that.

Just because you don't believe in human rights that doesn't mean that people don't have them, and just because you react in a mindless way when "human rights" are invoked inappropriately that doesn't mean that the whole concept should be ignored and that organisations should not take care not to abuse people's rights.

What about its sh*t?

Individual human rights should be abolished, and replaced with collective human rights.
The rights of the many should always outweigh the rights of the one, thats democracy.

That wasnt the quote I was refereing to and you know it...so why take somehting else and bend it?

You have far too high an opinion of your own abilities

Psychic internet psychologist as well now are you?...or is that just because your opinions differ from mine (and nearly eveyone elses)

They are a publicly accountable body who were criticised - of course they should respond to the criticisms and act to defend themselves

They were pussy footing around a ridiculous issue..in fear of being branded.

And I suppose you're going to claim that they aren't telling them that.

Er................No.........

Just because you don't believe in human rights

How in your infinate wisdom do you draw that conclusion?

So you agree that their human rights were being violated?..that they were fully entitled to carry out acts like that behind the bushes?....have you ever considered a job with Liberty..they would welcome you with open arms im sure.

Thankfully not every organisation behaves like the DIYnot Moderators

Keep going youll soon get the thread locked...

That's it! I am selling up and buuying a yacht on the Med to live out of.

This country is driving me and a lot of hard working tax paying people mad with all this utter sh*t!!!!

When is somebody going to bring this once-great nation back down to earth?

There are thousands of honest, law abiding citizens who get offended by all this left wing "human rights" b*ll*cks!!!! Who's writing newspaper reports about that and what a sorry state the country is in?

:!:

We all know the stereotypical version of these people hidden in offices on the poorly decorated and lit floor in our local town halls...but who are 'they' really?..who are the 'they

As in...

They tried to get the tufty club banned banned because it suggested sexual and racial stereotypes...(I cant stand the Sun but they did run a funny cartoon stip at the time depecting the loony lefts version of tufty and his family complete with mixed race lesbians and gay disabled family members!)

As in..

'We dont call it black coffee anymore...we simply ask for 'coffee no milk'...the clowns from a recent diversity (not allowed to call it equal rights anymore in case it upsets someone else) course my wife was )...it was decided that black people could find the term offensive, perosnally if I was black I would find the fact that idiots like that were faighting my 'cause' even more offensive.

As in...

All the worry about about upsetting muslims asians and anyone else not 100% white pure anglican english by daring to call christmas 'christmas'...winter break winter celebration etc..jeeeesus crist it so nice to know that these so called educated people are out there trying to save humanity..Muslims and asians really couldnt give two ****s.

As in

not giving out 1st 2nd and 3rd prizes in sports days because it can alianate losers..

My daugter won 4 races for her primary school in a little inter schools competition and was given 4 certificates with .............'took part in'..what a marvelous way to reward a kids efforts..

Perhaps 'they' should adopt the same principal when 'they' set the exams...dont fail anyone, dont have a pass mark, just in case it alienates the lazy bastards who couldnt be bovvered doing any revision..

I might go go a job as an assistant director of education just advertised down here..perhaps they will give it to me out of out sympathy because I was alienated by all the other people who got degrees and I didnt..thus causing me to feel inadequate

Not in any definition of democracy I've ever seen ... The day you abolish an individuals rights in the name of the many democracy is meaningless.

They are not mutually exclusive Trazor me old mate they depend upon each other to function.

As long as the individual concerned hasn't given up their rights to be treated as a human being of course by committing an act of terrorism, rape, murder, paedophilia etc etc. Then they should be treated like any other animal and put out of their misery.

After following due democratic process of course

What about the Human Rights of the ten thousand innocent dead in the bombing of Baghdad? Oh I forgot they are only Iraqis. Did you support that Mega?

Sorry, I gave up reading the Beano quite a while ago.

So you agree with me then, thank you.

Armed with the facts we had at the time I agreed with the conflict. Now, with the benefit of hindsight I think it was unjust but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

What if they had been right about WoMD, took no action and London was razed to the ground and made uninhabitable for 50 years?

The main lesson to be learnt from it all is ... Don't trust politicians.
