Can't remove built in Neff extractor hood...help needed please

Hi All,

As the topic says, I'm having great difficulty in removing a built in Neff telescopic extractor hood. The two metals clips will not retract into the body of the hood preventing it from coming out. I've undone the two screws as much as I can and although the hood does drop down by an inch or so the clips are holding it in place. Any tips?
