Hi there,

I have 94 Camry Vienta 3l V6 auto. Strange thing happened recently when im waiting on a traffic light the revs start to go down and car jerks. If I put it on Park or N, revs will go downer and the car stops.

What do you think it may be?

Thanks!?

Possible EGR valve fault, or associated pipework? My Toyota Celica '87 auto did that, and stalled.

Check for a pipe that has disconnected, due to excessive crankcase pressure, and make sure the oil is good, as mayonaissing, ie water in oil, or lack of oil change, thick oil can cause it..otherwise the EGR valve itself.

The valve is bolted to the bulkhead normally, and hard to dismantle.

The EGR takes waste gasses and reintroduces them into the combustion process to reduce emissions. I don't know if your ECU is the same as a Celica, but look for Te1 and E1 in the fusebox, if they are there, shorting them out in mine gives a fault code, that can diagnose the vehicle.

Thanks for the info!

I recently changed oil, so it should not be a problem. But I will look into EGR..

Also my old Capri used to blow off the EGR pipe, due to excessive crankcase pressure, then idle went awol..no egr electronics back then, and so hard to find out info about EGR systems, as they change with model spec changes. The Celica after my current '95 car, has much more EGR pipework for emissions, and less power due to it.

Is there a way to get codes from the ECU? Is there a car forum that you can refer to? I know there is a general Toyota one, but never used it, I think.
