Hi Guys,
I'm hoping someone can help us decide an order in which to proceed with our extension jobs.
We are having a 2 storey side extension which will add a bedroom with ensuite and dining room. Also having a reroof which is now felted and half slated.
We have an old combi which barely gives hot water and needs to be replaced. It is in a landing cupboard and flues vertically through the roof and the new condensate drain can go into the shower pipework through landing cupboard wall so all OK with that.
We want to get the new boiler put in and flued through the felt now so that the roofer can slate and lead around the right flue and we don't wreck our nice new roof but the extension is still just a shell with roof but no plaster, doors, windows etc.
We will be adding 1 or 2 new rads to the dining room and 1 rad and a towel rad to bedroom/ensuite which will all be added to the end of the existing heating runs.
When we get the boiler replaced we are expecting to have a powerflush and inhibitor added, but we will then need to add radiators. Will we need to drain the whole sytem to add the new radiators then reclean, refill and add inhibitor? Is that a good idea?
The existing rads have TRVs and open/close valves at other side (sorry, can't remember what they are called) so can we just close and drain the last rad then alter pipework and refill/top up inhibitor?
The other alternative is to get doors and windows in, electrics and plaster on, then do boiler, rads etc in one go but that could take a while and the roof would have to be left until later and it's getting cold!
Your opinions and advice would be very, very welcome so we can prioritise what we do next - being in by Christmas is becoming a distant dream!
Thanks, Kirsten
