I’m looking to set up a CCTV system at home, we’ll need 4 cameras. And I’d prefer hardwired ones over batteries. A system with a hard drive and screen would be best.

Anyone bought one similar lately ?

They are a Dutch company but have distribution outlets in UK.
You can buy an easy to fit WiFi antenna, to go in the recorder, to access the system via your laptop, phone, etc, but it's much faster hardwired via your router.

Bought a Swann 2 camera system years ago. Hard wired. Fitted it myself. Wished I had paid a specialist to do it while I earned at my regular job to pay for it. Still don't get the best out of it as I got bored trying to work out its settings via Internet instructions. Tech now so much better and live streamed to your mobile.

Hikvission connected to a synology NAS. though they only come with a 2 cameras license. alternatively an NVDR comes with more.

I’ve installed a number of systems for family members and friends over the past 5 years or so, and have used Hikvision and would highly recommend it.
It’s a professional brand and offer excellent choice of quality products, I’ve got their 5mp ColorVu cameras that give excellent video both day and night (in colour at night) attached image taken at 10:45 pm.

Swann I wouldn’t and using a Synology NAS has its own complications in terms of full support for camera used, the licence and capability.

Hikvision and there M series currently have some strange quirks in there M series NVRs which are short key to be addressed Hik have advised.

The biggest mistake is getting the right camera / system for what is to be achieved.

Not a fan of analogue cameras but you need to be aware good cables and proper terminations are half the battle.

Also have to be aware of the DVR or NVRs recording capabilities, along with the cameras.analogue hik 5mp color vu have decent live and recording frame rate at full resolution of the DVR is also capable.

Full specs can be downloaded from Hikvusion website if it’s unclear on sellers site

As secureiam says, good quality cables and connections are important along with power supply (for cameras).
I would suggest using cat5e or cat6 cable and quality RJ45 baluns, if using a DVR and Analogue cameras, this way you are future proofing the cables if you change to a NVR / IP cameras in the future.
The power supply for the cameras is often overlooked, and can cause problems if not sufficient to power them.
As also suggested, I would avoid Swann and some of the generic “cheaper” brands, I’m a firm believer in the saying “buy cheap, buy twice”.
