Ceiling light to spotlight install

Planning to replace existing single ceiling pendant light with 9x GU10 bulbs and a 3 gang light switch for 3 separate zones.
You are planning to replace a single General Lighting ceiling pendant light
with 9 Down lights, each focused on an area limited to (probably) a 60° Beam Angle - or lower.

On wonders why.

You might be better off using larger diameter lamps with a wider angle of illumination.
You then may need fewer lamps
and
you will have larger access holes for drilling through ceiling joists.

In addition, lamps where the Kelvin Colour setting can be changed on (installation) are available
and such lamps are usually dimmable.

Using two (or three) Colour setting and dimmable LED Panel Lamps may also be worth considering.
You would then have even bigger access holes !
