So we have a chair in the house, it's quilted velvet with studs, one of the studs has been pulled out by getting snagged on someones clothing or something, I need some ideas how to stick it back in effectively. My only ideas are either a glue gun to just glue it in place or to attach a thin weight to a small length of string and attach that to the eyelet on the back of the stud, push the weight and string into the material hole and gravity will hold the stud in. Any other ideas?

There's no access to the back, this is a mass produced B&Q special it's completely sealed/sewn up. The button does have a hoop on the back, though I called it an eyelet in my OP.
