In the last election only 1 in 4 brother to vote, so in my view this is not a proper voting, should make it law that everyone should vote to make it fair.

I think it should be mandatory to vote, with harsh financial penalties if you don't. Only one thing though in order to enforce this, you MUST have a tick box that states non of the above. What that means in practise is another matter but that MUST be in place for compulsory voting.

Sorry, don't agree. It is my democratic right to vote or not to vote. I can't be arsed to walk a mile just to tick a box saying I can't be arsed with any of them. I shouldn't be forced to for fear of penalty.
I'll also forstall any suggestion that exercising my right does not preclude me from having a say in how whatever party runs the country.

Good point, I'm getting fed up with people moaning, whinging about the UK politician and the british who cannot be brother to vote with the attitude of leaving with somebody else.

According to the old TV campaign "If you don't vote, you don't have a say", and you end up with a big zip across your mouth.

What about "Starship Troopers". In that (I only saw the film but I believe there is a book) you can only vote if you are a citizen. And you can only become a citizen by serving your country in the forces.

You have the right not to use your vote, but this doesn't tell anyone anything. It's a waste of one of the few privileges we get for all of our tax money.

What about a law where you only have to pay taxes if you back the winning side? That way those who voted Tory wouldn't be paying taxes right now, and after the next general election, anyone who votes Labour will get off tax-free ;)

How can you be forced to vote if you dont believe in what you are being forced to vote for ? You are just going to let some no mark whose policies you dont believe into power - thats whats happened already.

Thats the reason nobody votes because there hasnt been any body with any decent policies.

As regard tax it should be compulsory to pay tax for defence, health, education, police and all the other things people shoudl have a vote whether tax money should be spent on them, and I could guarantee you one thing there would not be a lot left for asylum seekers and refugees, but Im sure all those bleeding hearts would dig deep into their pockets to pay for it - I dont think!

But by not voting, unlike so many who, as you pointed out, just vote for whoever they've traditionally voted for, the lesser parties (for want of better term?) have more chance of having some effect. This makes the bigger two sit up and think maybe? No, probably not. :(

What about a law where you only have to pay taxes if you backed the Losing side?

And why we are on a roll, how the hell did the British public get conned into paying millions for a group of people who have no power and can do nothing---THE OPPOSITION, why the f--- should we have to pay more tax for old blokes to sit there and wave a piece of paper about

To keep the ball rolling....
What about those in 'The other place'? Those fine upstanding but seriously unelected bunch most of whom seem to 'book in' and bugga off or fall asleep. What's that all about?

No vote NO POINT OF VIEW

Interesting but what if there isn't a party worth voting for ?

i am going to turn them back into Pagans, any who dont conform, i will burn

As pagan rock band "Inkubus Sukkubus" once sang, "Children, resist a return to the burning times", with reference to the "burning times" aka the pagan holocaust... So, you can't go doing that!

Americas next

I would REALLY appreciate it if you know any Gaelic, go to the US and speak Gaelic at ANYONE who says "I'm Irish" in your vicinity. Then demand to know why an Irishman can't speak the official language of Eire. Sorry, just I find that whole "I'm from country X because my great great grandmother once met someone who possibly might have married a guy from that country" thing really annoying. I was talking to a girl who said she was German, so I assumed she WAS German as many people learn English with an American accent. I tried out some of my schoolboy German on her, then she looked at me, confused, and said "Hey, what language was that?" I didn't mind, it was just another thing to stick on the mental list of "things girls might say that lead to confusion".

Interesting but what if there isn't a party worth voting for ?

Well, we've managed in the last few elections ;)
