Changing door which leads into garage

A fire door frame should have a groove into which the intumescent strip should be fitted. This swells when it gets hot and fills the gap. You can optionally buy them with a brush included, which provides draughtproofing while the place isn't on fire.

See attached photo of mine.

If you haven't got a strip then it's not a fire door. It also needs a spring to close it.

I don't know what the regs are for the bottom of the door. As mine didn't actually require a fire door, I only wanted it for soundproofing, I didn't bother looking into it.

Does it matter which side the strip is on (garage or room)? I'm guessing from a cosmetic perspective garage side is better?

Also I've taken out the old door ready to fit the lining. I noticed that there is a bit of a gap either above or below depending on how I fit the lining. My thought was fit it all the way to the top bar 5mm which I can pack out (same either side). Then once fitted pack and screw then fill with fireproof expanding foam then tidy. After that at the bottom fit a threshold to the remaining space left which would bring it to the bottom of the jambs screw in and jobs a gooden then on to the door.

The strip needs to be in the mid point of the door thickness when closed. It swells up when hot and seals against the door

Cool. Will attack this tomorrow bought a length of wood to cut up and make some packers. Would I be wise to go down the fireproof expanding foam route once it's all packed and in situ?

Don't stuff with cement or anything water-based as I once did with a door frame years ago. The water against the bare wood made the back of the door frame expand, the whole thing dished as it expanded.

So this is where I'm at so far. As you can see there is about a 20mm gap on the wall side which is the side that will hold the door. If I run a level up either side it's level at a 76.3mm gap running through. See square is pretty good so is there anything I'm missing before I pack and screw it? This is my first attempt at installing a door lining but it was a real pain.
