Changed Sport for Play thinking like for like would be easier (old model is Mira play) but the screw holes appear in different spots and water connection is horizontal but elbow is pointing up. If drilling in different spots should i put silicon in old holes?

Use a compression elbow ,plus a short length of copper pipe, into the compression elbow sticking out the wall
Yes ,to filling unused holes in tiles with silicone.

Could I just use this olive and compression fitting ONLY to join pipe (once turned to face shower entrance)?

Just fill old screw holes with silicon

Shall i flush water first through pipes before connecting?

Yes to both.

Not a bad idea to flush the pipework, just in case.

You can turn the existing elbow to point towards the shower inlet and connect it directly if that's what you mean ? Providing the existing elbow will be the correct distance out from the wall to align ,and the electric cable will still be reaching / within the right area.

How about this? Haven't pushed copper pipe into water pipe or done up olive and compression connection yet. John Guest push fit. The wires are a bit long and when pushed in(the cable bends back touching elbow (as in pix), is that ok/safe?

Can the olive go either way round?

Fingertight then turn one eighth of turn for compression fit with spanner?

John Guest push fit

I prefer a compression on a shower, but just make sure the shower tail is inserted fully into the elbow.

Yes for all, perhaps a bit tighter on the compression.

It's isolated but thought I'd be better safe than sorry

There shouldn't be anything exposed there.

No problem with being safe but nothing should be exposed outside of the terminal block.

Regarding drilling holes. None match with the old Mira Play. I've drilled just top one. I guessed the spot by pushing showers pipe into water pipe as far as it go without tightly doing up olive and nut with play moving pipe up and down and it level.

Figured I'd plumb in with one fixing (at top and if it works then mark other two spots with it fully plumbed in and tested in position Didnt want to drill in the wrong spot and have to redrill. I'll then take off again drill then re connect not electrics just water

Regarding john guest fitting. I guess keep on eye on it and check no drips every now and then taking top off. I'll buy a compression elbow anyway . Doesn't the metal compression elbow damage the plastic inlet to the shower when tightened?

I don't think there will be. He has only covered the ends in tape as they are not connected yet.

That makes sense, but it would be safer to put them in terminal block rather than relying on a bit of pvc tape.
