Charge me up Sichuan

It's been noted that the kind of charging station shown in the video may work better for buses or trucks who need to run all day to a schedule, rather than private vehicles that don't require such a quick turnaround.
There may be use cases for such things, but even with trucks/buses, swapping the battery to 'instantly' recharge isn't necessarily the big win people think it is.
The law in most countries requires that truck drivers take breaks at defined intervals. Unless the battery swap also involves a driver swap, then it's of limited value for most normal uses.

people who can afford it would be tempted by a five minute wait, which isn't that long when you think how similar it is to a petrol station visit.
People need to change their mindset and stop thinking about driving to a special filling up place to refuel their vehicles.
It's neither necessary or desirable.

Then i guess it comes down to the range given to the vehicle by a battery - is it four hours til a driver must rest? In that case it'd make sense to juice up the battery while he refuels on bacon n' eggs.

If you're on a journey longer than the battery can manage then i think a charging point would be required somewhere along the way.

For the 'daily' using E10 fuel it's anywhere that is convenient, usually BP/Shell/Esso.
For the low-mileage classic it's usually supermarket as E5 prices are too pricy at the above.

Of course - but if on a longer journey, it's not a journey to go fill up your car.
It's a journey with a stop along the way, and charging occurs at the stop which would be made anyway.

Most EV charging will be done when the vehicle is parked wherever it is usually parked.
Currently that's mainly limited to those who have driveways, or can charge while parked at work.
Eventually, all car parking places will have charging facilities.
