Well considering how mild my post was relative to other posts in this thread, it is beyond moderation and is censorship - someone wants this thread to read a certain way!

, and what an 'Islamist' was
Yes, what is this term all about?
God knows!

AFAIK - the term has moved from 'someone who is Muslim' to ' someone who wants to spread a certain form of Islam' ie that form of Islam that we are now commonly calling ' fundamentalist'

And the term is moving towards 'jihadist'.

Oh I see. So although this brand of terror is always linked to or on behalf of The ROP, islamist is a sort of couched, mealy mouthed way of trying to put some distance between the perpetrators and their particular doctrine.

Almost like the ad men who try to sell unappealing products by a slight rebrand, eg. adding 'New' to Labour.

By your logic all white western males are racist hooligans:

I think it is more a case of the language involving to make a distinction between Muslims in general and Muslims who want Islamic law everywhere, with a further distinction for those who wish to do this by force.

There is a need for this, in the same way that we can distinguish between the PIRA/UDA/KKK and other Christians.

Regardless of your views on Islam as a belief system, it is disingenous to say that there is no need to differenciate between an ordinary Muslim person and a psychopathic jihadist. It'is not mealy mouthed, more a necessary attempt by society to recognise the inevitable nuances.

As for 'Fundamentalist' - it once meant people who took things in their religious texts literally ,or more accurately lived bywhat they saw as the 'fundamentals' , be they Christian or Muslim or perhaps like the Hasidic Jews etc .But now seems to be evolving into describing someone who uses any means to impose their religion on others.

Doesn't really matter if they try to separate out the psycopaths (there do seem to more than their fair share - no other religion can come close) from the ones who just appear to have milder personality disorders due to their beliefs that are taken to almost beyond obsessional levels. They are all still categorised under the 'M' word.

I understand what they and the authorities are trying to do. It's similar to the French authorities claiming that the perpetrators of the three lower profile terror attacks immediately prior to Paris were mentally defective (although this is patently obvious), rather than being completely honest and saying that the snackbarists have struck again, in support of their religion.

Of course, but for a moment visualise it as a seies of sub sets or Venn diagrams.

If you expand on any pyschopath you will eventually find that s/he is a subset of a particular culture/group/nationality or another

What you can't do is work the other way and predict what particular sub set an individual falls under

Eg - British-English-White-Christian-Male-Over 30-Paedophile-Murderer

or British-English-White-Christian-Male-Over 30-Cider Drinker- Married

Yes, whilst I see what you're trying to say. I believe we should deal with problems of our own rather than importing other cultures, groups or nationalities who seem to bring scarier problems than our own indigenous people could ever devise. Unless we want to keep increasing the unnecessary bloodshed on our streets. Because, lets face it, it is unnecessary to import alien cultures. Even government figures prove what many have thought for a long time - that they are a cost to the country and offer zero benefits to us. Then they bring their wars with them to play them out here.

If you're after some more statistics with which to make a very interesting venn diagram, try Googling Sweden's rape epidemic. Who would guess that they have levels that are double ours or The US? No surprises the reason for it. But then the electorate keep returning left-wing governments, so it's only to be expected.

Whilst I applaud the Frogs for having stood up to the muslim (or is it 'islamist' now? ) terrorist threat by publishing more mohammed cartoons, I am given to understant that, unlike our own government, they paid ransoms to the terrorists to secure the freedom of some of their countrymen.

Apparently I have "voted" in the poll. But this is my first visit to this thread and I have not voted yet...

Someone has voted on my behalf. Weird...

Knowing how 'certain people' on this forum have the apparent ability to dictate which posts are to be deleted, it wouldn't surprise me if they also had the power to vote on other people's behalf!

Some say Charlies mob got some stick they did not expect.
An eastern saying - 'Pull the Tiger's tail at your peril.'

It is said 'Do not hand it out if you cannot take it.'
