Child benefit...

I

Why not scrap child benefit, and lower income tax... straight away, you stop the incentive of the scum having feral kids, and rewards those that work.... simples!!

But some are not out of work through their own choice.

I understand, but lets stop making decisions to suit the small minority? lets deal with that as an exception... my one line post was not a manifesto, but a general poition!!

Let's save money by not paying child benifits to children that do not reside in this country.
Imigrants who claim for offsprings, in their native country who do not live here.

No C/B for any one with an income higher than say, £35-40k.
C/B only for the first 2 children. Nothing for the rest.
No extras for single mums who claim not to know who the father is.
No free housing for single mums under 21.
Free full time nursery for all single mums who work full time. (A lot won't work as they have to pay towards full time nursery costs which can be quite high).
By single I mean someone who is not married/separated etc.
Anyone whose partner has been a victim of tragedy, military service/murdered/crash victim etc should not be classed as single.
There are flaws with these ideas and no doubt they will be pointed out. I accept that.

disagree, CB only for those with an EARNED income

Why should someone on say, £60k get same C/B as someone earning £20k. Surely the higher one doesn't really need C/B.

By extras I mean an increased amount of C/B, free housing, free milk etc

conny, you really missed my point... £20k v £60k is dealt with by income tax steps... i was saying that lets not reward people for having kids, except those that work... those that choose to have 7 kids and not work, they get nothing !!

Absolutely mate.
100% agreement on that and also with Wotan.

But a lot of people are on low wages and don't always earn enough to pay tax so there would have to be an alternative for them.
(Or am I just getting tired? )

no, you're right... i didn't consider the lower earner, non tax payer... they of course should be rewarded.

I just would like to remove the sense that "lets 'ave a kid", and it increases our income... mentality. Working ncreases your income ffs !

But not really..that is totally wrong.

do you mean child benefit if so its only £20 for the first child and a few £ less for the others so only a moderate part off the money a parent get for there kids
a single parent with 1 kid will get £20 family allowance and about £50 child tax credits so 70 ish pounds because they have a kid
about £65 for themselve with housing and councill tax costs on top paid directly
