Hello,
I am in the process of insulating the walls in my kitchen and am wondering what to do with the chimney breast. For the main walls I am adding furring strips with 25 mm insulation in between and 25mm insulated plasterboard fixed on top.
For the chimney breast can it be plasterboarded? Should it be insulated? Or should it just be rendered?
The chimney breast is only extends 9inches into the room and 14.5inches deep so must only be a single brick deep at the back.
I was thinking of maybe adding a column of bricks either side to bring the fire place out a bit with a wooden beam lintel / mantelpiece
Any other good ideas what I could do?
Thanks,
