Wood burning stove too deep for chimney breast.

Your best bet is to change your stove for a non-cassette one. A free-standing stove that fits into the chimney with a sealing-plate would give you much more freedom about where to place it. If it does stick out even a little into the room, then all the more heat all round the woodstove into the room instead of wasted up the chimney!

From memory, you need a minimum of 150mm clearance all round the stove.
My apologies if I have misunderstood, but although our wood burning stove has a gap of at least 6" on both sides and above, there's very little gap behind between it and the back wall of the opening.
