Chipboard the tongue and groove edges

Hi I've got loads of T/G chipboard planks to use in the loft.Im wanting to re use what was just put directly in the insulation on a raised deck via 4x2s.Im struggling to put the boards together as they have a straight edge on one length and a male connection on he other edge.The short edges are one male and one female.Have I got some odd boards?I would've thought I'd have one male and female edge in the length and width of he boards?

2 sides should be male and 2 sides female ?

The idea being that I could join male to female and then male to female etc along the lengths and widths.currently I can only join the male on one length with the female on the short edge(width of another board,giving me a weird layout,I can also align two straight edges on the lengths if two boards again that seems odd as you lose the strength with them.not connecting

Solved it no worries thanks had a brain fart doing a job tired on new years day!I looked further into the pile of boards and have some females on the lengths to join up with just means adjoining straight edges as well in places but will will work for what I need.

Ideally, fit them as a brick bond for extra strength

I was going to do that but with the position if pipes I've got just over 400mm between the joists so should be pretty secure.
