Just pricing a large domestic new build property (6bed/6bath) and in the M&E spec there is a requirement to chlorinate all domestic services pipe work on completion and to issue a chlorination certificate.

Neither I nor any of my colleagues have ever been required to do this in the past and while I acknowledge that it is good practice, does anybody know whether it is actually a mandatory requirement.

There will be some cold water storage in the form of a break tank for the cold water booster set.

Many thanks

Mark

If it's in the spec then for that job it is a mandatory requirement, yes. I'd steer well clear of it though, too much that could potentially go wrong if you don't know what you're doing, best to get a specialist contractor in to do the work and build that into your price
