Choosing New Laptop

re the gloss screen, are you going to use your laptop in your garden? are you going to use it with a bright window behinde you? (shining onto the screen)

if anserw is no, or very rarely, the laptop you found on ebuyers is a good choice, and at a price you wanted. it has 6 gig or ram, which is amazing at that price with a current i3.

i have matee and gloss screens, images (colour etc) look sexyier on a gloss screen.

It's worth going and seeing for yourself what it looks like. They vary, and some are bad enough that simply sitting with a light on behind you makes them hard to see. Others are fine except in very, very bright areas.

It's very easy to find most models of laptop in a highstreet shop and look at them before buying. It's also worth seeing and trying the keyboard and touchpad.

apart from the gloss/matte screen debate, do you agree that that laptop he found on ebyuer is suitable for him, at a good price, especially with 6 gig ram - yes or no.

Probably fine, yes, but I'd want to see it.
 
thanks for your staright forawrd and honest reply, yes i also like to look at the item before i buy it but sometimes i dont.

hopefully he has now found the laptop at the price he wanted, more importantly he found it himself.
 
I'd second the Dell avenue and watching out for all the bloatware and bundled extra free (30 day trial) software.

I know this is probably too late but i bought my fare share of laptops to date and i would avoid Dell laptops, for the budget you have i don't think you will go wrong with a Toshiba laptop.
The Dell laptops we had at our house were constantly needing repaired and the engineer from Dell who repaired them said that if i was to buy another laptop get a Toshiba one as for all the laptops he fixes it is very rare that a Toshiba laptop needs repaired.
My current Laptop is a Sony Vaio which i built on their own web site as i knew what spec i was looking for and i could not get it in a Toshiba laptop so that's why i went down the Sony road.
The Sony is by far the best quality laptop i have ever owned, the screen is fantastic and the keyboard is really nice to use it hasn't missed a beat from i bought it and you don't get any bloatware.
i have since bought another Sony Laptop for my son and it must be perfect as i have not heard him complain about it yet, well your know what
kids are like.
 
Yes Sony are a good laptop but I've sold Dell and they are good also. Good support if you buy one new...

I found the Sony battery went down quick though.

All the three Dell laptops we had at home were bought new direct from Dell, all three give lots of problems including battery issues two of the laptops needed new batteries within six months and Dell would not replace these under warranty, all three laptops needed new screens as the laptop cover would not close properly, all three needed new keyboards, and one needed new fans fitted.
I cannot comment on the Sony battery yet as i have not got the laptop long enough.
 
No, it's not too late. That's the beauty of the recession, you've got more time to make your mind up... ;)

I owned a PC store in Wakefield and we were agents for Dell. We found that the budget end did get some trouble but we usually found it down to them begin hammered. Home users place laptops on their lap, causes them to heat and fail, even causes issue with the lids etc...

Dell are very good, I found. We sold about 300+

The dell laptops we had were the Studio models, they cost in the region of £700 each, not what i would call budget.
