Choosing wireless security system

Rule of thumb. If you want a challenge, go for a graded system and live with the fault lights when you failed to set it properly (or call an installer), or choose a good brand DIY system, those are geared towards less competent DIYers.

If you live with fault lights ( graded system ) or live with a system where for ease of use fault reporting is geared towards the less competent DIYer then are you not then living with a system that is faulty and may not go to alarm when an intruder does break in.

Your rule of thumb seems to be saying that DIYers should live with less reliable systems simply because they are DIYers who ( you imply ) cannot cope with a system that reports faults in a more robust way.

The DIY alarms actually work you know. Just thought I would let you know as there seems to be some confusion.

You seem to have the idea that it's a DIY alarm therefore it cannot possibly be any good or work as designed.

It's not a simple garden rake or a tea tray it is a sophisticated piece of electronic circuitry and I am pretty sure the people who designed the circuits and the circuit logic knew what they were doing from the transmitting pirs to the recieving panels. I would imagine the large company would have got the best professionals for the job.

As I have repeated said , they do what is written on the box. But a low cost DIY item of equipment the design has no option but to be a compromise between cost, function, ease of install and several other considerations

from the transmitting pirs to the recieving panels.

The way things get designed is very variable. Some companies have in house electronics departments that provide in going design of new products and updates to existing equipment. Some companies, including very large ones, put the design out to a contract design company, put manufacture out to a sub contract asembly organisation and do nothing more than sell the equipment Some have no in house technical staff at all other than help desk clerks who match the problem to one of a list on the screen and then read out the solution. Note.... I did say some companies, not all.

Yaleguy3 actually personally cancelled his own account as he was sick of the continual trolling and personal attacks. He was of the opinion that coming onto this site was like stepping in sh*t.

Much the same opinion of users coming on here to ask questions...

Finally, I find this forum to be an excellent resource for both offering and receiving useful and pertinent information about specific issues everyday folk have. My main problem however is the amount of so-called 'pro's' who want to stick their two-pence worth in and either slag off the item the OP has, saying "buy a real one" or "move house" WF planet are they on? Do you really think people come on here to look at crass comments, or to find a solution to their problems.
