Cars got into the Christmas spirit - engine light on and "emergency braking assistance" warning on the display.

Used my basic OBD scanner that I have for my VW and it came up with:

I think it means I need a new accelerator pedal (as the sensors on it). I'm trying to work out how it relates to the brake assist (to be honest, we've not had the car long and I haven't read the book - it does flash up a red triangle and beeps at you when it decides you're too close to the car in front but don't think it's ever put the brakes on, but there is an active/passive setting somewhere in one of the menus?) - no fault stored for this but I'm thinking - it will apply the brakes if in thinks your accelerating towards a stationary object but it can't function if it doesn't know what the throttle is doing?

It's a 2016 Infinity Q30 (essentially a Mercedes A Class, built by Nissan with a Renault diesel engine!).

Does it have any faults whilst driving

What condition is the battery in ?

1st step is turn off lights and go for a drive. Do they return?

Wife didn't drive, except straight home after light came on and she didn't notice anything.

Battery fine (on the basis that the stop start works well).

I was unable to clear the codes with my OBDeleven but I found a pedal/ignition sequence on the internet for older Mercs which seems to have reset it (so the light is out together with the brake assist warning). I've driven 3 journeys since then and it's stayed off so could have been a glitch. The stored codes haven't cleared.

Anyway, it's given me the impetus to get a new scanner - looking at a Topdon as I don't want to pay for updates for my hopefully occasional use, but I'm struggling to understand what is and if I need "bi-directional" function? I tend to have a go at most jobs so would pay a bit extra if it's worthwhile.

My best advice is talk to gendan. They will give you genuine advice

If lights are out and stay out it sounds like a glitch if no noticeable issues
