CiD:http.......

Since the 14 y.o. hase been chatting on IE messages I am now plagues with advertising which "arrives" as if I had selected their web site.

I have an AVG free edition which has not located anything untoward.

The worst arrive beginning with CiD:http but others just come with their own site addresses.

Can anyone explain how they "just arrive" ?

Most important, how I can stop them coming! I have never encountered them before except one gambling site which is like a tenacious weed!

With XP, you can always revert to a previous restore point otherwise my best advice is to rebuild your operating system. Its the best and cleanest way to rid of virus, ads etc. Adaware programs are good but you'll never get your machine working straight again!

Once on the straight and narrow, I would create a 'user' only account on your machine which has limited abilities on what he\she can do which'll prevent exectuables from being installed without your knowledge.
