Hi,

We have a kitchen extension which has failed render (all delaminated). I don’t really like render. Unfortunately the bricks underneath don’t look good so I was thinking about cladding it. I want a fairly rustic look so was considering wooden cladding.

Any advice on what timber to use? Shiplap looks a bit too formal. I was considering a simple feather edge? If so, is it worth going for oak feather edge for longevity and quality since it’s going on an extension rather than something like a shed.

Sounds like you want waney edge board.

Larch or cedar normally, elm if you can get it, oak may split
