Im not Strictly looking after myself 100% , but i do ok.
Too many beers this week and a Chinese last night.

However my diet is generally good.

Ive still not got back to full routine after Christmas. My yoga is on hold and not getting involved with my girls football training because of the winter months.

However I have this week got back into my cold showers after finally getting over a bug chest infection that just hung with me from Christmas.

Can do a minute on full Cold. Two minutes max at a stretch.
It's so cold this time of year.
I wonder why sometimes?
I get why, once it's over and the shower has stopped.
it's a great feeling.

Not done the winter swimming but I guess I will at some point.

Well that’s a start. You should look after yourself more, don’t start slipping back into old ways. Give yourself a good talking to, remember what you've been through and man up! You only get one life, don't waste it.

No slippery surface, just feeliing rotten and being diverted by Christmas spirit and eating.

January isn't a favourite month.

No way could i do cold showers!! Yikes...
It's not easy. Start hot then end cold. I do treat myself sometimes by finishing hot after cold. You really don't need to do this as the body warms itself up straight away.

I know it's easy to say give it a try.
Only you know if you have it in you or not.

Only time I’ve ever tried that was when we were out in Spain in the middle of the day. Even then it was too cold!

My strategy has always been to just throw yourself into the water and deal with it.

The whole sensation of discomfort and everything is part of what makes it effective.

Surprisingly, you'll later feel warmer if you shower/wash your hands with cold water and if you shower with hot water you'll feel cold after a short period of time.

I have been plunged into freezing mountain water several years ago. Voluntarily i may add. Its was ABSOLUTELY FREEZING!!!!!

Agree

I enjoy a hot shower so happy to start hot and end cold.

Go for it—it’s surprisingly fun! However, I strongly recommend starting in the summer.

The first swim is by far the hardest, then it gradually gets easier as your body acclimatises. Provided you swim at least once a week, you’d be amazed how much easier it is after a handful of swims. I recommend starting in summer, and then keeping going at least weekly throughout the autumn and into winter.

Your body acclimatises (e.g., increased ability to burn brown fat to keep warm).

Cold water swimming is addictive :D

Did you feel the health benefits from doing it regular?

YES! I feel lots of benefits.

However stressed I feel beforehand, a cold water swim is like a reboot for my brain. I always feel fantastic afterwards, and that good feeling lasts all day or even longer.

Also, the combination of exercise and the outdoors generates its own feel-good effect. Cold water swimmers are incredibly friendly and give a feeling of camaraderie that’s rare these days.
