According to the Energy Performance Certificate I have received on a proposed house purchase the Central heating system does not have a room thermostat.

Is this normal for a Combi Central Heating System?

Thanks for any advice.

Depends on when the system was installed.Today there is a requirement to fit a room stat to interlock with the boiler and shut it down.Thermostatic rad valves can also be fitted to enable individual room temp control. If you fit a room stat the rad in that location shoud not have a thermosatic rad valve fitted.Nothing wrong with your sytem just not to todays standards.

It was always good practice to fit a room stat.

Unfortunately, there have always been installers who keep the price low to get the job and do the cheapest job possible.

We can mostly blame the owner who does not take the trouble to learn what constitutes a good system and pay a bit more to get a job done properly.

My understanding is that the system was installed when the bungalow was built, late 1990's.

Is it possible to fit a room thermosta?

Very easy.

However as you may not have a cable route from the preferred position it will usually be easier to fit a wireless type.
