Combi boiler heating wiring?...

One last q - if i buy a programmable did room stat, i only need 2 wires from the boiler, And no neutral (depending on the stat tho).

That's right, you can get programmable stats that are mains powered and therefore need a neutral. Most are battery powered and need no neutral, so two wires will be plenty.

Battery powered prog room stats require no perm live (just the switched live from the boiler) but non battery powered ones need a neutral (to complete the circuit). the boiler itself will have a perm live (ie as it is a combi it requires this to heat the hot water on demand) and therefore gives power to the prog room stat this way.

It is probably easiest to see the wireless stat as a switch operated my a motor.
The motor needs phase and neutral, that is one cable.

The switch is just a switch, like a light switch, that is the other cable.
The two have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

When WB come out of the box, the lr and ls are bridged, and the boiler works without controls when you stick it on the wall. Your digital stat takes the place of the bridge.

Your boiler will not have a receiver in it. The WB digistats, for some bizarre reason rebranded draytons, are only plug and play for the newer models. I wouldn't recommend them on older models. Nor on newer ones to be honest; the siemens rev 24 is much nicer.

The boiler i believe is about 7-8 years old. so i need the WB box / branded Drayton - (digistat) to get HTG on my boiler? And the wiring for the box is pre-wired / bridged inside the boiler and the box is like wireless?

If i can't get this box, would a normal programmable room stat as described above, be suitable/ok??
