It is probably easiest to see the wireless stat as a switch operated my a motor.
The motor needs phase and neutral, that is one cable.
The switch is just a switch, like a light switch, that is the other cable.
The two have absolutely nothing to do with each other.
When WB come out of the box, the lr and ls are bridged, and the boiler works without controls when you stick it on the wall. Your digital stat takes the place of the bridge.
Your boiler will not have a receiver in it. The WB digistats, for some bizarre reason rebranded draytons, are only plug and play for the newer models. I wouldn't recommend them on older models. Nor on newer ones to be honest; the siemens rev 24 is much nicer.
