Compression fittings.

If I'm worried and using a part of an existing fitting I may use a smear of silicon grease. Really desperate hawk white.

Yorkshire kuterlite say use a light oil on the threads and ptfe sealant if necessary with R250 tube and recommends using ptfe sealants with steel and stainless tube with tape as an alternative.
I use Jet lube V2 plus which is WRAS approved for potable/non potable , is a soft setting, non-petroleum based thread sealant for use on metal, plastic (non-ABS), threaded connections for water, bottled and mains gas, compressed air, oils, fuels, refrigerants and most other liquid and gaseous chemicals.

Kuterlite fittings have always leaked if you don't use Biss White on them. Maybe not today, but they'll leak.

Kuterlite training does mention the use of a drop if light oil on the threads pf the fitting and nut to ease tightening. No mention of Boss White or PTFE tape.

But what do they know, they only make the fittings and never install them.

But not on the olive

The mating face between fitting and olive is not always true so a smear of paste is required.
I find it amazing when the armchair googlers disagree with the professionals that actually do this for a living....try your method on a 54mm comp fitting and get back to me..

On Type A or Type B??

One that uses decent copper olives and doesn't overtighten everything.
So what do you suggest when the fitting supplied utilises a brass olive???.....are you suggesting these brass olives shouldn't be used ?..or more to the point a smear of paste will be required?

Yup there's nothing like a longscrew!
Although the fitting of a long screw is now disallowed.:)......although a repair can be carried out to an existing long screw with the use of a hemp grommet.
