Comrade Bolshevic Boris and the Tories - we like Russian donors

That's a really good point. Don't vote labour, because a labour politician had the hots for IRA members in the 80s. Is that really the best you can come up with? It's no surprise the Tories will lose this election.

McDonnell still has the hots.

Should feel sorry for the poor kid in the middle.
He is in danger of getting corrupted

That's a very positive article, I'm glad you shared it.

“The way the Irish community has come together in Liverpool is an example to others and one I am quite proud of. People are willing to talk now in a way they did not in the past and I think it is the same in Scotland.

“That was the result of a lot of work, a combination of civic and religious leaders coming together. The two cathedrals in Liverpool do not stand for sectarianism any more. They stand for two churches bringing people and congregations together.”

Well done McDonnell and the Labour Party!

Maybe it says it in the articles you've quoted, not sure, but 13 member states have been up before the EU beak for their railways, incl, France, Germany, Spain. No expert on EU law, but then again, none of you are either.

Yes thats true, I did see the Spanish railways were able to resolve it by creating a legal separation between track and operator.

Like I said Notchy, it's complicated.

Liar

The article you linked implied EU prevented renationalisation.
It does not.

The UK already has track and operator as separate companies -so not complicated, simply the status quo.

It may not, but it is reasonable to say the EU aren't keen on nationalised railways that effectively aren't open to competition.

Being 'not keen' and 'preventing' are totally different things...

This reality of choice of course tends to get mixed up by those with an ideological blockage to understanding the facts :)

I am aware of this.

luckily, nations that are members of the EU have votes in the European Parliament, seats on the Council, and membership of the Committees. So are able to press for changes if they wish.

Obviously this does not apply to the UK, since we have decided to throw our voice and our votes away.

Sure, but if you leave, you don't need a voice for that, so in this case a poor example.

If you leave, then membership is irrelevant.

If anybody wishes to say anything about EU rules, it is absolutely relevant.

No national railway makes a profit, so how else can it be done?
Air travel is also heavily subsidised...

So is car production...

Public money poured into private pockets!

And yet when it is a public company receiving taxpayers money in this country it's considered to be a bad thing...

Oh how easy it is to brainwash the gullible!

so, why didn't Tony and Gordon re-nationalise the railways back in the days when we were all singing 'things can only get better', I'm sure it was part of their manifesto, I'm also sure D-Ream didn't do a song called 'things can only get better, apart from the railways'. :):)
