Hi guys and gals

Wonder if you can advise please.

[/IMG] Friends live in a 1978 built house, boiler was replaced some years back. They had an old fire under a tank type with a flue that went inside the external wall, up into the loft and via a cement with 5% asbestos pipe to a ridge vent.
This pipe was removed properly a while back.

There has been an issue of a cracked wall and repair work is planned, it will involve the use of a grinder.

The concern is, will there be asbestos bricks inside forming the flue and what type would it be and what would the risks be if it was hit by the grinder.

You can see the junction brick here in the loft.

Many thanks.

Why would you need to even go near it with a grinder ?

Yes what is happening is the wall below this has a crack, a deep one at that and the builder proposed to stitch the wall with resin and steel mesh, this required a grinder to dig out the cememnt between the blocks, the point being this could nik the flue bricks.

Why does the builder want to fill your house with dust when he could do what Terrywookfit eloquently said;)
